The Next Generation Manufacturing

Systems (IMS) Program is an international partnership formed
to propose and conduct pre-competitive research and development
projects under the Terms of Reference of the International IMS
initiative. CAM-I is the International Co-ordinating Partner for
the Program.
Partners in the NGMS IMS Program
come from Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States of America.
They have developed a vision of the Next Generation Enterprise
(NGE) and a Technical Agenda describing a set of technology and
systems R&D to assist in realising the vision.
The NGMS IMS program is now in its
second phase as an IMS Project. Phase I started in January
1996 and completed in December 1999. Phase II (the current phase)
started in January 2000 and due to complete in December 2002.
