Problem Topic
SENS/PROBE: Clarification on use of ti,tj,tk"

Problem Description
For SENS/PROBE, ~ti,tj,tk~ is the sensor mount axis, which "will always equal" "the SNSMNT/ ZVEC parameter". Does this condition hold true for any/all of the other sensors? Why is this parm needed?

Suggested Resolution
If this value is needed, document how it differs from the ZVEC parm. Otherwise, it is suggested that the parameter be labeled as no longer needed in a future version of the DMIS standard, and that it is optional (and will be ignored if present).

[This SIR has been referred to the Sensor Working Group for further research.]

Resolution

Warning!!

The following statement is only a resolution to a Standard Improvement Request (SIR) and is NOT part of the current DMIS standard, nor is it guaranteed to become part of the next revision of the DMIS standard even if voted and accepted by the DMIS National Standards Committee. This resolution is tentative because it may not be incorporated into the next version of the standard, it could be changed prior to the next release, or it could be changed as the result of the "public review and comment" period required for the next version of the standard. If you choose to use this tentative resolution, you do so at your own risk since at this time it is not part of the DMIS standard.

Resolved per 8/98 DNSC Meeting Oak Ridge, TN.
Modified ti,tj,tk definition for SNSDEF.

These values have the same meaning and must not differ. This provides backward compatability for SNSDEF/PROBE.

Change on page 126 to ti,tj,tk.
"If the SNSMNT statement is used, the ti,tj,tk values in the SNSDEF statement must be the same as the SNSMNT ZVEC parameter."

Notes

Added by Mike Holloway, hkm@ornl.gov on 7/31/1998

No reference to this SIR was found in any meeting minutes.

Looks like it may only be needed for backwards compatability.

Added by Interpretation Sub-Committee, gph5@chrysler.com on 8/5/1998

These values do not differ. However it is not harmfull to have both values, and this provides backward compatability for SNSDEF/PROBE.

No change to the standard.
