Standards Vision
CAM-I
Standards Development
CAM-I's vision
is to identify urgently needed industrial automation standards,
then work to promote, foster, and encourage the development of
these standards or to develop them through CAM-I for the advancement
of industry as a whole.
Without standards,
all communication and commerce would be impossible. Recognizing
the vital importance of standards, CAM-I has long been dedicated
to the development of urgently needed industry standards.
Standards
and specifications for design and manufacturing at corporate,
national, and international levels are crucial to national and
world economy. CAM-I has for many years taken an active role in
the establishment of industry standards, and is an accredited
standards-making organization under the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI). Through member company representatives and staff
participation, CAM-I is active in various international standards
efforts of ISO, the International Organization for Standardization.
The CAM-I
Standards Committee is an original "By-Law" committee,
established with the creation of the CAM-I organization in 1972.
During all the intervening years, the Standards Committee has
been active in its efforts to identify and support the development
of needed industry standards. CAM-I later became accredited under
ANSI in the late 1980s, and has worked persistently to identify
and/or produce those standards requested and urgently required
by industry.
